Today's topic is a particularly poignant one as we delve into the world of motherless daughters.

Our special guest today is Dr. Gina Moffa, who is not only a licensed psychologist based in New York but has a grief and trauma-informed practice. She is also somebody who has personally experienced the loss of her mother. And this is certainly a club no one chooses to join. But it's important to shed light on the many challenges it can bring because it's not only the death itself, but it's many of the secondary losses.

We'll also be diving into her new book that will be coming out, Moving On Doesn't Mean Letting Go: A Modern Guide to Navigating Loss.

Here’s what we talk about:

  • Grieving alone isn’t always a good idea. Grief needs support.
  • Can writing books about personal experiences be cathartic?
  • Gina’s story of her mother’s loss - a therapist’s perspective of loss is definitely unique!
  • The tsunami of other losses and experiences that Gina experienced after her loss.
  • The value of self-care, or, as Gina puts it, “survival care”, to the grieving journey.
  • Managing your expectations when you’re in grief
  • Defining trauma in the modern age.
  • Grief is the language of the soul.
  • And much more!
